ART 295-01 - Special Topic: Berlin: Borders and Transgressions4 credits (Spring) Cross-listed as: GRM 295-01 . This team-taught course focuses on Berlin as a center for innovation in the visual arts and literature since the late 18th century. We will examine the connection of the arts to contemporary socio-political phenomena such as urbanization, immigration, war, European integration, and today’s significance of Berlin as a site where Islamic and Western traditions meet. Taught in English; students majoring in German read texts in the original. Class will travel to Berlin during Spring Break.
Prerequisite: Second year standing; priority will be given to declared Art and German majors. Instructor: Anger
