PSY 395-02 - Advanced Special Topic: Alternatives to Experimental Designs2 credits (Spring) Truly experimental designs are the “gold standard” for evaluating causal hypotheses. However, a number of hypotheses are impossible to test using experimental designs. This seminar will consider alternative designs and data gathering techniques that significantly broaden the scope of research questions that can be addressed. Among those considered are longitudinal, experience sampling, psychobiography, and behavioral genetic designs. Readings will be drawn largely, but not exclusively, from personality, social, and developmental psychology.
Prerequisite: PSY 225 and two Psychology courses level 200 or above. Instructor: Sinnett
