PHI 257 - Philosophy of Science4 credits (Fall or Spring) An examination of the foundations of scientific inference (induction and confirmation), the nature of scientific explanation, the structure of theories, and scientific methodology. Discussion includes the possibility of objective knowledge and the nature of scientific revolutions.
Prerequisite: PHI 102 or PHI 111 , or background in a science. Note: Plus-2 option available. Not offered every year. Instructor: Fennell, Neisser, Nyden
