REL 295-06 - Special Topic: Being Muslim in America

4 credits (Spring)
Cross-listed as: HIS 295-02 . This research-intensive course investigates the pasts and presents of American Muslim communities. Of particular interest is how race, class, gender, and religion intersect to create arguably the most dynamic national Muslim community in the world. Significant themes may include the construction of community identities, religion in American public life,  Islamophopbia, and the particular challenges facing contemporary Muslim communities in the United States. Coursework includes a significant research project over the final month of the term.

Prerequisite: HIS 100  , REL 101 REL 102 REL 103 REL 104 REL 105 , or second-year standing.
