ANT 295-01 - Special Topic: Anthropology of Borderlands4 credits (Spring) The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the anthropological study of borders and borderlands. Drawing from interdisciplinary and cross-cultural source material, we will examine the sociocultural, political, and historical construction of borders and borderlands. Among the topics addressed in this course are: nation-building processes, border enforcement, human rights, symbolic borders, the ways in which people and ideas travel across borders, and the role borders play in identity formation processes.
Prerequisite: ANT 104 . Instructor: Kulstad
