REL 295-02 - Special Topic: Islam in Asia

4 credits (Fall)
Islam has been essential in the development of Asian cultures since its early history, and Islam in South, East, and Southeast Asia today is intimately tied to Islamic world. This course will provide an overview of the cultures and politics of Islam in Asia. Beginning with a brief introduction to Islam and the Quran, the course will trace the processes through which Islam entered Asia through trade, diplomacy, war and migration.

Prerequisite: REL 101 REL 102 REL 103 REL 104  , REL 105 , or second-year standing.
