REL 295-02 - Special Topic: Religion and the Environment4 credits (Spring) This course explores religious underpinnings of contemporary global attitudes and practices concerning the environment and the human/nature relationship. In it, we focus on how religious beliefs concerning the environment have been articulated in both ideology and practice, and critically consider how religion may be used as a resource for environmental sustainability. Religions covered include indigenous North America, Christianity, Buddhism and Daoism.
Prerequisite: REL 101 , REL 102 , REL 103 , REL 104 , REL 105 , or second-year standing. Instructor: Bhutia
