REL 295-04 - Special Topic: Buddhist Meditation Tradition

4 credits (Spring)
Meditation is now widely recognized as a beneficial practice for health and wellbeing, and is taught in secular settings around the world. This course will engage with the Buddhist traditions that inspired these contemporary forms, providing an introduction to the historical theories and practices developed by major Buddhist traditions, including those in South and Southeast Asia, China, Tibet and the Himalayas. The course will also provide a basic introduction to the practice of these forms.

Prerequisite: REL 101 REL 102 REL 103 REL 104 REL 105 , or second-year standing.
