ECN 295-01 - Special Topic: History of Economic Thought4 credits (Fall) This course will examine the evolution of economic thought. Topics include the emergence of the market system, mercantilist and preclassical economic thought, the economic ideas of 18th century classical political economists like Adam Smith, David Ricardo, and Karl Marx, and the economic ideas of 20th century economic thinkers lke John Maynard Keynes. The relevance of these early economic ideas to present-day economic theory and issues will also be examined.
