ANT 195-01 - Introductory Special Topic: Anthropology of Africa: Reflections and Representations

4 credits (Fall)
This is a course exploring contemporary debates in Africanist anthropology as well as providing students with the opportunity to interrogate the representations of sub-Saharan Africans in Africa and in the United States. The course will cover the people and history of the continent, both in breadth and in-depth by examining the landscape from a varietyof angles, using multi-disciplinary perspectives and materials including ethnographies, films, novels and long-form non-fiction journalism.
