SOC 295-03 - Special Topic: Sociology of Asian America

4 credits (Spring)
Cross-listed as: AMS 295-01 .  This course examines the experience of Asian immigrants and their children from a sociological perspective. Emphasis will be on how changes in the strucutres and institutions in American society due to global processes have shaped their social interactions, roles, and expectations. Readings, lectures, and discussions will focus on the intersection of race/ethnicity, gender, and race; media representations and popular culture; social movements and politics; and diaspora and transnationalism.
