GRE 395-01 - Advanced Special Topic: Xenophon

4 credits (Spring)

Reading and discussion of selections from the wide range of Xenophon’s works: historical narrative, household management, political dialogue, Socratic discourse and dialogue, encomium, historical fiction, sympotic frivolity. Attention to grammar, style, cultural context, and intellectual importance. Readings from modern scholarship in the service of understanding and perspective.

Prerequisite: GRE 222 or equivalent and HUM 101.
