SST 295-04 - Special Topic: Journal Publishing: Building a Community

Cross-listed as: HUM 295-04. This course will train students as editors, publishers, and entrepreneurs by involving them in creating a issue of the College’s interdisciplinary multimedia on-line journal Rootstalk (https://prairiejournal.grinnell.edu). Students will join instructors and Grinnell alumni from the publishing world to solicit content, review submissions, edit those selected for publication, and collaborate on the new issue’s layout and design. This semester, we will also be focusing on audience building. No prior experience in publishing is required. Students who have taken other publishing courses taught by Andelson and Baechtel may also take this course.

Prerequisite: Second-year standing.
