MUS 202-01 - Topics in American Music: Sonic Activism4 credits (Spring) This course explores the potential of sound and music as a mode of activism (e.g. instigating/supporting social change) through examples from across the globe and history to the current day. We consider ways of evaluating the effectiveness of sonic/musical activism and students will design, carry-out, and reflect on their own original projects. This work demands dynamic and interdisciplinary collaboration and participation (not limited to jumping, singing, and yelling).
