MAT 314 - Advanced Topics in Applied Mathematics

4 credits (Spring)
Applied mathematicians study and analyze the mathematics of real-world systems, including computational techniques and algorithms for investigating questions rooted in these systems. The field uses many approaches such as partial differential equations, computational linear algebra, dynamical systems, optimization, and approximation theory. This course will build on theoretical, algorithmic, and computational approaches from numerical analysis to explore an advanced topic in applied math.  The course will regularly provide an opportunity to pursue research. May be repeated for credit when content changes. For current offerings review the variable topic course listing below or use the course search to filter by variable topic type.

Prerequisite: MAT 313  with grade S, C, or better.
Note: Plus-2 option available.
