ANT 378 - Archaeology of Racialized Communities4 credits (Fall or Spring) This class will explore the theories and methods that archaeologists have used to study the material record of racialized groups in the United States. Course readings will cover early archaeological investigations of racialized communities, how archaeologists have worked with descendant communities, the impacts of colonization, debates around acculturation and assimilation models, the archaeology of racialization, and studies of diaspora and transnationalism.
