PST 320-01 - Applied Policy Analysis

Cross-listed as: POL 320-01. Why are our cities unaffordable, and what puts housing out of reach for middle and working class families? Housing is a fundamental feature of human life, but political forces, combined with economic change and globalization, have long shaped who is able to live where. This course examines the policies that govern the places where we (want to) live, and including issues like affordability, racial/economic segregation, gentrification, and short-term rentals. These concepts and examples will provide the foundations for a final project in which students will propose and assess housing policies.

Prerequisite: PST 220, POL 220, or ECN 220, with grade, S, C, or better when taken as PST 320. POL 216, POL 220, PST 220, POL 239, or POL 250, with grade, S, C, or better when taken ast POL 320.
