POL 395-01 - Advanced Special Topic: Marginalized Identities in the United States4 credits (Spring) In this course, students will engage with a diverse literature on the experiences of those in various marginalized communities in the United States, including civil rights violations, systemic oppression, the complexities of group identity, and how those in these groups interact with political institutions. Pulling primarily from scholars and activists within these communities, students will engage with the political inputs and outputs of group membership to better understand marginalization in the United States.
Prerequisite: POL 101 and one of the following courses: POL 219 , POL 257 , POL 259 , POL 295: Race and Ethnic Politics in the U.S., or POL 295: Political Psychology; with grades S, C, or better. Instructor: Nava
