EDU 213 - Critical Issues in English Language Teaching & Learning in the U.S. and Abroad

4 credits (Fall)
The course will focus on issues critical to English language teaching and learning of ESL in the U.S. and English as an International Language (EIL). We will also explore how concepts of language, literacy, and ideology impact language policy, curriculum development, and international development programs. Special attention to instructional needs of U.S. ESL/bilingual students; factors that impede/promote multilingualism; and ways language policy and use intersect with human rights issues. Eight hours
of field experience in K-12 public school setting.

Prerequisite: EDU 101 .
