POL 295-02 - Special Topic: African Politics2 credits (Fall) An overview of the major phenomena in contemporary African politics and an assessment of competing explanation for those phenomena. Among the topics discussed are democratization, economic development, state collapse and intra-African wars. Among the explanatory possibilities, colonialism/neocolonialism, the end of the Cold War and ethnic diversity.
