The focus is on the household and individuals as decision-making units. We will explore how the market environment, formal and informal institutions, and other constraints shape the preferences and behaviors of individuals living in poverty. We will make use of impact evaluation studies to demonstrate how interventions can influence household decision-making, and investigate which interventions are scalable and viable solutions. Finally, the seminar will explore decision-making through burgeoning field behavioral and experimental economics lens to help design better politics.
