MAT 295-01 - Special Topic: Cryptogrpahy/Coding Theory4 credits (Spring) This course covers introductory material about the fields of cryptography (sending secret messages) and error correction (adding redundancy to a message to allow detection of errors) Topics covered will include some elementary number theory topics which will be applied to public key codes, and some introductory group theory topics which will be applied to error detecting codes. The course will emphasize proof writing and basic logic.
