CLS 295-01 - Special Topic: City Life in Roman North Africa

The ancient Roman world was much more than the city of Rome. This course will examine the Roman presence in Africa, especially the region which is now Tunisia. Topics to be treated include: the Roman provinces, the city, the house, mosaic floors, religion, the theater, the amphitheater, the circus, and other aspects of life in the Roman cities. The major source of evidence will be archaeology.

Prerequisite: Recommended: CLS 250 ART 250 , CLS 257 HIS 257 , CLS 258 , or HIS 258 .
