ENG 295-03 - Special Topic: Advanced Creative Writing Workshop: Playwriting

2 credits (Spring)

Cross-listed as THD 295-03. A short intensive-course on the creation of a one-act play. Students will learn the fundamentals of dramatic structure and action, characterization, dialogue and monologue, and other elements in constructing their own compelling short play. Additionally, students will study and present a one-act play written by the instructor and rehearse and present their own completed drafts by semester’s end. Prerequisites: ENG-205, 206, or 207 or Theatre major.

Prerequisite or co-requisite: ENG 205, ENG 206, or ENG 207 or Theatre major.
Note: Dates: March 3 and 5th. Smaller group and individual sessions will be held by appointment based on student schedule/needs to reach appropriate level of contact hours. Dan O’Brien will return to campus April 14-19 for a staged reading/talkbalk about one of his plays and a reading and critique of student work will also take place that weekend. Short course deadlines apply. S/D/F only.
