ANT 295-02 - Special Topic: The Anthropology of Disaster4 credits (Fall) Disasters have become increasingly common throughout the world. The chances that we will be affected, directly or indirectly, by a major disaster increases daily. Using ethnographic case studies of recent disasters in the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia and Europe, students will critically examine the ways in which natural, sociocultural and technological systems interact to produce catastrophe.
