SST 295-02 - Special Topic: Preparing for Off-Campus Study: Methods Training for the Field1 credits (Fall) This course is for students applying for, going on, or thinking about off-campus study who would like tools, methods, and ideas to make the most of it. The instructor will introduce students to basics of ethnographic research methods. Some issues covered include: establishing personal goals; interacting with people of other cultural backgrounds; observing and interviewing; documenting and reflecting on an experience; and responding ethically to a student’s unique position.
Prerequisite: Second-year standing. Note: Dates: September 4 to November 13. Half-semester deadlines apply. Instructor: Larson
