ENG 121-01 - Introduction to Shakespeare4 credits (Spring) This course will examine a selection of Shakespeare’s work that spans his career. Applying key terms and concepts for the study of literature, we will read representative plays and consider some of the most important poems. Part of our focus will be on understanding the plays in their performative contexts, reading the texts very closely and imagining performance possibilities. Together, we will explore how original audiences may have responded to Shakespeare’s work, as well as how the poems and plays have taken hold of our contemporary imagination.
Prerequisite: None. Instructor: Garrison
