HIS 224 - Sex in American History4 credits (Fall or Spring) This course explores the history of American sexual experiences, desires, and identities. Students will consider changes, contradictions, and continuities in ideals as well as the complicated realities of lived experiences. Topics include the invention of sexualities, courtship and marriage customs, sexual citizenship, sex as work, sexual violence, and more.
Prerequisite: HIS 100 , or second-year standing. Instructor: Lewis
