MUS 201-02 - Intermediate Music Studies: Digital Music-Making4 credits (Spring) Introduction to the techniques of electronic and computer music composition with the goal of developing a finished work to present in a public concert. Topics include electronic musical form and aesthetics, recording, sampling, synthesis (subtractive, additive, granular, ring modulation, AM, and FM), effects, LFOs, live processing, MIDI Controllers, improvisation, algorithmic/computer-assisted composition, and electronic music history. Students will develop a working proficiency with Ableton Live/Max for Live/Pro Tools through weekly assignments and small creative projects.
