THD 295-01 - Special Topic: Playwriting4 credits (Fall) The primary goals of this course are to hone basic craft and to create a writing workshop environment that will guide the writer’s exploration of their individual voice as an emerging playwright. We will concentrate on developing fundamental components of dramatic writing including: storytelling through the medium of liveness, character formation, shaping narrative, developing the language of visual imagery, shaping dialogue, and fostering a theatrical imagination and voice. This course is taught from overlapping perspectives of traditional and alternative techniques in playwriting. Students are expected to complete weekly writing assignments.
Prerequisite: Any 100-level THD course. Instructor: Mayorga
