ANT 104-02 & 04 - Anthropological Inquires

4 credits (Fall and Spring)
Eating. Food is a critical part of everyone’s culture, and the four fields of anthropology are all involved in understanding how we eat. In our ancient past, the foods we adapted to, and the technology we developed to obtain and process food shaped our evolution. We will read some classic ethnographies to see how food is interwoven into cultures very different from our own. Eating shapes our continuing adaptation, our social interactions, our language, and our bodies. There is no one who does not have opinions, beliefs, and experiences around food to discuss.

Prerequisite: None.
Note: Section -04 in the fall; section -02 in the spring
Instructor: Kamp, Whittaker
