MAT 195-01 - Introductory Special Topic: Demystifying Mathematics

4 credits (Spring)
Do you ever wonder what mathematicians think about? Armed with just curiosity, some creative thinking, and a bit of persistence, this class explores a wide range of mathematical topics in order to reveal the beauty of math. What information is encoded in ISBN numbers? How many prime numbers are there? Is there only one size of infinity? Why are poker hands ordered a particular way? No prior mathematics knowledge beyond basic arithmetic is assumed.

Prerequisite: None. Priority will go to students with no math courses on their transcript beyond MAT/SST-115.
