HIS 295-01 - Special Topic: Classical Asia4 credits (Spring)
This course introduces the major thinkers and texts from the ancient period of India, China, and Japan. We will study the historical and cultural background, as well as reconstruct the values and patterns of thought that circulated in this set of vanished worlds. Through a deep immersion in these texts we will also explore whether they can speak across temporal, spatial, and historical divides to our own concerns as twenty-first century humans.
Prerequisite: HIS 100 or second-year standing.
Note: Plus-2 option available.
