PHI 295-02 - Special Topic: The Good, The Beautiful, and the Brain4 credits (Spring) Is morality subjective? Is beauty simply in the eye of the beholder? And how could we tell? What, if anything can contemporary neuroscience contribute to a philosophical understanding of these and other values? In this interdisciplinary course we will examine what is at stake in these debates, survey influential theories, and try to envision what an adequate neuroethics or neuroaesthetics of the future might look like.
Prerequisite: PHI 111 , PHI 271 , ENG-295 Doctor as Writer, or NRS 250 . Instructor: Neisser
