ANT 195-02 - Introductory Special Topic: Meditations on Identities with Jewish Studies and Africana Studies

1 credits (Fall)
Cross-listed as: AMS 195-01 . This course fuses explicit intersection of readings and personal experiences in order to explore how Jewish Studies and Africana Studies confront interrogation of the specific idea of racialized identities - this point of departure will allow some time to consider the theme of alliance and alienation in academic and public discussions comparing Jews and Blacks (n.b. this ranges from political to films and tv series). Discussions are open-ended and grounded by texts to be prepared before each meeting. Course intended for mature students, willing and able to engage in erudite conversation and explicitly inspired by the readings.

Prerequisite: Instructor permission.
S/D/F only.
Instructor: Gibel Mevorach
