ART 295-01 - Special Topic: The Constructed Image

4 credits (Spring)
This production-based course will address the photographic image as a form of construction, of simulation, of subjectivity. As one of the most popular contemporary methods of photography, “the constructed image” can take shape in many forms, including (but not limited to): traditional still life. physical and digital collage, images made in a studio setting, digital image manipulation, scanner photography, photo-sculptures or -installations, and computational imaging. Students will be introduced to a core set of skills, technologies, and strategies for image-making, but are encouraged to hijack their intended use, intervene in their processes, and multiply their application. As alchemists, we will approach our mediums as recombinant and mutable processes with which we can experiment endlessly.

Prerequisite: ART 111 .
