ENV 295-01 - Special Topic: Climate Change and Indigenous Peoples

2 credits (Spring)
How do indigenous peoples throughout the world sense and make sense of climate change? How do they forge adaptive strategies in partnership or in conflict with broader sociopolitical institutions? This course offers an overview of the current and projected impacts of climate change on indigenous territories, cultures, and economies. We will ask how indigenous knowledge and practice can inform global climate assessment and adaptation, and what futures are possible for localized communities.

Prerequisite: Second-year standing.
