PCS 195-02 - Introductory Special Topic: Alternatives to Violence Project Basic Workshop and Short Course.5 credits (Spring) AVP is an experiential program, helping people change their lives. Founded in 1975 by inmates and Quakers in New York State, it draws its participants and its trainers from all religions, races and walks of life. The Basic AVP Workshop concentrates on primary conflict resolution skills. The short course will include step-by-step exercises, reading and writing assignments that explore: affirmation, trust, communication, listening skills and assertive methods of expression, cooperation, and avoiding competitive conflicts (Description courtesy of AVP USA).
Prerequisite: None. Note: Dates: This weekend workshop meets Friday, March 6 4:00 to 8:00 p.m, Saturday, March 7 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 8 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Short course deadlines do not apply for this course. S/D/F only Instructor: Staff
