MAT 444-01 - Senior Seminar: Simulation Methods in Statistics

4 credits (Spring)
Computer simulation methods provide a powerful toolset for the analysis and understanding of real-world systems and models and are utilized in a variety of fields. In statistics, simulation methods can provide an analysis of data when traditional statistical approaches may not be the most appropriate as well as provide an alternative approach to statistical research for problems that are not easily examined theoretically. This course will provide further exposure to statistical modeling (including advanced topics such as multivariate models) and introduce simulation methods in detail to explore both applied and theoretical questions. Monte Carlo and bootstrap methods will be covered.

Prerequisite: STA 310  (previously offered as MAT 310), MAT 336 , or STA 336
Note: Plus-2 option available.
