ENG 227 - American Literary Traditions I

4 credits (Fall or Spring)

Study of American literature from Columbus to 1830; may include such authors as Columbus, Harriot, Bradstreet, Rowlandson, Franklin, Wheatley, Irving, Bryant, and Cooper. Features works from a variety of genres, including Native American myths, travel and promotional narratives, journals, poetry, fiction, nonfiction prose, and maps. Prerequisite: ENG 120 or ENG 121 for majors, with grade S, C, or better; for non-majors, ENG 120 or ENG 121, with grade S, C, or better, or third-year standing.
