ANT 295-04 - Special Topic: Feminist Anthropology4 credits (Spring) This course provides an overview of feminist anthropology, the development of methods and theories about gender in relation to identity, power, inequality, and representation. It outlines foundations of feminist thought developed in anthropology from second wave feminism and traces the intersections of post-modern, feminist, and post-colonial critiques of the discipline. It will then take up heterogeneous anthropological approaches to gender, sex, and sexuality that advance interdisciplinary inquiries in the 21st century.
Prerequisite: ANT 104 or GWS 111 with grades S, C, or better. Note: Plus-2 Option Available. Instructor: B. French
