ALS 101 - Alternate Language Study I

ALSO is a self-instructed program for learning languages not offered by academic departments at Grinnell. Students follow an online program to independently learn the language and practice their speaking skills with native-speaking peer tutors. While the course covers all communication modes, students will focus on interpersonal oral
communication, where they will be able to communicate in spontaneous spoken conversations on very familiar and some everyday topics. Repeatable when taking a different language.

Prerequisite: ALSO director approval and second-year standing.
