ANT 290 - Archaeological Methods4 credits How do archaeologists know where to dig? What techniques are used to date an artifact or archaeological site? What theoretical approaches do archaeologists use to interpret a site? This course provides an overview of the field and laboratory methods that archaeologists use to study past societies and an introduction to archaeological theory. Through readings and hands-on activities, students will be exposed to a range of archaeological methods such as survey, stratigraphic excavation, stone tools analysis, ceramic analysis, zooarchaeology, and archaeobotanical analysis.
Prerequisite: ANT 104 , or upper-level (200 or 300) archaeology course with grades S, C, or better. Note: Plus-2 option available. Instructor: Staff
