HIS 295-01 - Special Topic: Contested U.S. Presidential Elections2 credits (Fall) Gives students historical context about U.S. Presidential elections whose results have been contested to understand the political system and to interrogate constitutional and political procedures and disagreements. What do contested presidential elections reveal about American society, and how does this history help us understand the upcoming 2024 presidential election? Students will analyze sources and collaborate on a website offering historical commentary on contested elections that will offer the public context for the 2024 election.
Prerequisite: HIS 100 with grade S, C, or better, or second-year standing. Note: Dates: August 30 to October 18. Half-semester deadlines apply. Instructor: Purcell
