PSY 295-01 - Special Topic: Cultural Psychology

4 credits (Spring)
Human beings are a cultural species, endlessly shaped by the unique social contexts and environments in which we are enmeshed. How can culture be defined, and what are the dimensions of culture?  What psychological and cognitive processes, previously thought to be universal, actually vary dynamically by culture? How does culture influence self-concept, emotion, attention, memory, and health?  What methodological issues arise when studying culture and cultural processes? 

Prerequisite: PSY 113  and SST 115 , or STA 209 ; with grades S, C, or better.
