POL 295-02 - Special Topic: War in Ukraine

4 credits (Spring)
This course will apply concepts and theories from the field of international relations to investigate the current war in Ukraine. Questions we will consider include: how is sovereignty established in an anarchic international system? What is self-determination in the absence of democracy? How does the presence of nuclear weapons constrain choices in conflict resolution? We will examine these questions through multiple perspectives to understand how different actors view the war and options for its resolution.

Prerequisite: POL 101  with grade S, C, or better.
Note: Plus-2 option available.
Instructor: Lussier
