GWS 395-01 - Advanced Special Topic: Trans Aesthetics

This course surveys foundational and recent scholarship in the vibrant field of trans studies, and places these critical materials in dialogue with cultural productions (like literature, film/media, and visual and performance art) that are either created by gender-nonconforming artists, writers, media-makers, and performers or that depict the lives of gender-nonconforming people. The course centers the intersectional dimensions of gender variance by examining its connections to race, sexuality, class, disability, mobility, and citizenship.

Prerequisite: GWS 111 with grade S, C, or better, and one GWS 200-level course with grade S, C, or better.
