THD 395-01 - Advanced Special Topic: Performing Shakespeare

4 credits (Spring)
This course is a performance workshop, blending traditional scholarship and practice of Shakespearean performance and Shakespeare’s legacy. The class will consist of games, exercises, research and performance of Shakespearean scenes and monologues, all supported by analysis and character development. We will focus on how the players played together, and why. All of this work will take place in a trauma-informed and feminist classroom, where we will also build a caring, creative community.

Prerequisite: any 200 level course in THD, ALS, ARH, ART, CHI, CLS, ENG, FRN, GLS, GWSS, GRM, HIS, HUM, JPN, MUS, PHI, REL, RUS, SOC, or SPN; with grade S, C, or better.
