FRN 350-01 - Advanced Topics in Literature and Civilization

French Cinema and Literature from 1950 to 2000. Conducted in French. This course explores different trends of French cinema and literature in the 20th Century between 1950 and 2000. Examines topics such as World War II trauma, memory, modernity, desire, exclusion, autobiography, feminism, decolonization, and violence. Authors and directors to be studied include Robbe-Grillet, Duras, Truffaut, Godard, Varda, Ernaux, Beckett, Denis, Genet, Sarraute, Carax.

Prerequisite: FRN 312 or FRN 313; with grade S, C, or better.
