GRM 227-01 - Topics in German Literature in Transition

4 credits (Spring)
Cross-listed as: GLS 227-01 .  Women Travel the World: A Feminist Approach to Asian-German Literature. This course offers a diverse exploration of Asian-German literature through a feminist approach. We engage the works of authors such as Susanne Hornfeck, Towata Yoku, Anita Desai, and their counterparts, examining how their narratives intersect with gender, identity, and cultural experiences. Topics include but are not limited to migration, diaspora, and belonging, intersecting with critical theories of gender, identity, and world literature. Inviting students to embrace diverse and inclusive voices in the Asian German context through close reading, critical analysis, and class discussions, we aim to foster an appreciation for cross-cultural identity. All texts are in English translation.
